About

A more selective collective

Kelvedon Hall is 19 miles from London. It was built it 1715 by Sir John Wright. It was bought by the Channon family in the thirties by “Chips” Channon a politician and socialite. Henry and Katie Channon now live at the house and have decided to run an event on the grounds. The idea of the “bash ” is the intimate feel, a house party that you are a part of.  The site looks across at the impressive Queen Anne house, which we will project images onto, in a direct contrast the old and the new. Modern meets the old.

Although music is an integral part KelvedonBash is not simply a music festival, it is about all of the Arts. As significant art collectors themselves it is important that it promotes what Henry and Katiebelieve in. Paul Saunders owns and runs both Westbank Art Gallery and Urban in Ibiza which will travel to Kelvedon with leading street artists who will decorate and perform throughout the weekend stamping its unique edgy brand on this beautiful country house. Leading street artists will decorate the arena. As part of the interactive ethos of our festival, we will also be having: graffiti walls an art hunt and Kids Paws, something for everyone.

A large attraction of the weekend will be a search for ‘The New Young Face of Essex.’ With a celebrity model coming to judge the final. We will be collaborating with local and London fashion schools; we want our models to wear innovative clothes designed by the up-and-coming generation of designers as well as more established names in the business. Our preferred styles and ideas will be showcasing breakthrough designs with themes including recycling and reinventing.

A large film tent will be in situ run by Lara Agnew, documentary maker and teacher at NFTS (National film school). This multi-dimensional project will include crowd participations creating a constant live feed. Film entertainment for all ages. With an onsite editing suite, young filmmakers can get hands on experience and learn some new skills.

Although small, it is vital to our ethos that Kelvedon Bash is special, interesting and original. The best of what street food has to offer will be available. Seoul comes to Essex with Kogi, traditional English with a Hog roast, the Viet Van and of course The All Day Breakfast Bar.

Retail Therapy! Vintage clothes to gadgets galore.

An eclectic mix of bars. Drink healthy in Rosemary Ferguson’s juice bar. Get into the Caribbean rhythm at Basil’s bar of Mustique fame. And perhaps let Keith Flint pour you a pint in his pop-up pub.

Katie Channon is on the board of LAMDA (London academy of music and dramatic arts) and therefore drama is a slice of this weekend. People will be able to partake in a LAMDA masterclass run by the Rodney Cottier teaching stage fighting. There will also be a play performed for children on the Sunday.

MUSIC

The live music on the stage needs to finish at 11 but following this a large DJ tent continues until 1am. Norman Jay MBE is headlining on Friday with Radio 1’s Dave ‘Ram Jam,’ Rodigan. Saturdays acts include Lee Scratch Perry followed by Daddy g culminating in the keyboard prowess of Faithless Sister Bliss.

HEALTH AND FAMILY

From a 7 k off roadbike challenge through the estate’s picturesque woods to an all ages paint run sweat off your stress and look crazy and colourful all filmed from above live on screen by the drone.

Mortimer Nannies make the weekend fun for everyone with a drop-in crèche and in tent babysitting on request. The Bashiteswill sleep well after all our available activities from exploring in 90ft of tunnels in our artificial caving system, bouncing themselves crazy with KTROO boots, getting their hands crafty and dirty with PAINT PAWS, learning how to be a DJ, painting a graffiti wall, Editing a film, joining The School of Noise and learn to make a record player .

This year two of the charities we would like to support are Kidsinspire a local charity that helps disadvantaged young people turn their lives around and give them back a future. In memory of Henry and Katie‘s friend Felix Dennis a tree will be planted for every ticket sold.

This festival for the eclectic is not one to be missed
